Product description
Teak Cladding Board
Teak is the world’s benchmark outdoor hardwood — and once you’ve specified it, the conversation about durability is essentially over. It’s the species used for boat decks, hotel terraces, and garden furniture intended to last a lifetime. Service life of fifty years and beyond, naturally rich in protective oils, and dimensionally stable across temperature and humidity changes — Teak is the timber competitors compare themselves to. Sourced from sustainably managed plantations and stocked in our yard for delivery across Ireland.
Why Teak?
Teak earns its reputation honestly. Durability Class 1 with a density of around 650 kg/m³ — but the real value isn’t in the numbers, it’s in the natural oils that give Teak its exceptional resistance to moisture, rot, and insect attack without any chemical treatment. Fine straight grain and warm golden-brown tones develop into the refined silver patina that’s been the signature look of premium yacht decks for centuries. When a project specifies Teak, it’s because nothing else delivers the same combination of longevity, stability, and quiet authority.
Installation guidance
Teak is straightforward to install for an experienced contractor. Pre-drill all fixings and use stainless-steel A2 or A4 fasteners. Cut ends should be wiped clean with white spirit before any glue or finish is applied — the natural oils repel adhesives unless the surface is properly prepared.
Finishing & maintenance
You have two good options with Teak, and there’s no wrong answer. The natural route — leaving the timber untreated to develop its signature silver patina — is the look most premium projects design for. The preserved route — keeping the rich golden tone — takes more attention but rewards you with a finish that holds its drama. If you choose to oil, use Teak oil specifically (we stock genuine Teak oil — ask us if you’re unsure which to pair with your boards). Apply annually for visible installations.
