Product description
Ecowood Triple Slatted Cladding Board
Ecowood is what you specify when you want the predictable quality of premium softwood without the price tag of hardwood. It’s our brand for kiln-dried Red Class timber — engineered for stability, supplied with consistent quality between boards, and ready to install straight from the pack. Boards arrive in a warm honey-brown tone with even grain, and weather gracefully if left untreated. Sourced from FSC-certified European forests and stocked in our yard for delivery across Ireland.
Why Ecowood?
Ecowood earns its place by combining the best traits of softwood with extended exterior performance. The kiln-drying process gives every board predictable moisture content, dimensional stability on site, and a service life of 25 years and beyond when properly looked after. With a density of around 520 kg/m³, it’s light enough to handle single-handed but solid enough to feel like proper timber — not a budget compromise. The consistent quality between boards makes it a reliable specification choice for projects where appearance and predictability both matter, from cladding and decking to exterior structural work.
Installation guidance
Ecowood is straightforward to install for any competent contractor. Use stainless-steel A2 or A4 fixings outdoors; pre-drill near board ends to prevent splitting. Slight colour variation between boards is part of the natural character — it lets the finished work catch the light evenly rather than looking uniform and flat.
Finishing & maintenance
You have two good options with Ecowood, and there’s no wrong answer. The natural route — leaving the timber untreated to silver over twelve to eighteen months — is the lowest-effort path forward. The preserved route — keeping the warm honey tone — takes a little more attention but rewards you with a finish that holds its colour for years. If you choose to oil, use a UV-protective oil designed for softwoods (we stock the right ones — ask us if you’re unsure which to pair with your timber). Apply within the first few months of installation and refresh every two or three years.
