OAK BEAMS
These oak posts with a head size of approx. 15×15 cm are mainly used for the wooden constructions of, among other things, verandas, roofs, garden houses and sheds. Oak wood is extremely durable and strong. It has a lifespan of no less than 20 to 25 years. In addition, it ages very nicely. Choose the desired length(s) below.
- Fine sawn, rough
- Head size: approx. 15×15 cm
- Available in various lengths
Oak posts 15×15 cm have a rough finish and therefore provide a robust appearance. They are mainly used for the wooden constructions of outdoor houses such as verandas, roofs or garden houses that are wider than 4 meters.
Oak is known for its rustic appearance that fits very well in both a rural and modern garden. Make your veranda modern by combining oak with beautiful black window panels. Oak wood first gets black stripes and then grays beautifully!
Oak is a hard wood. The wood can start to ‘work’ due to weather conditions and cracks occur. Lovers of oak love this, as it also emphasizes that rural look. You can of course also choose to stain this type of wood.
The posts are finely sawn, which ensures a rough structure.

Wood is a natural product and each type of wood has certain properties. These are often wrongly seen as lower quality. At TimberIreland we think it is important to inform you about this in advance. That is why we explain the most important properties here. The full description can be found in the product card at the bottom of the text.
Warping
Like hardwood, oak is a hard wood. This is advantageous for durability, but has the disadvantage that it warps quickly. Our advice is to install the wood as soon as possible after delivery. Once attached with firm screws, it is less likely to warp.
Rip
Oak wood ‘works’ due to weather conditions: in the summer the wood shrinks due to heat and due to moisture it expands in the autumn. With oak this causes enormous cracking, which is a characteristic property of the wood. This cracking has no influence on the quality and constructive properties of the wood.
Black smudges and spots
Tannic acids in hardwood react to contact with steel. During transport, the wood can come into contact with the steel forks of the forklift, causing black spots. These disappear automatically after installation due to weather influences, but can also be removed with weathering water.
