Product description
Whitewood Timber
Whitewood is the structural softwood that does the unglamorous, important work behind every well-built timber-frame project in Ireland. Strength-graded to C24 and kiln-dried below 22% moisture content, this is the certified, dimensionally stable timber specified for stud walls, floor joists, rafters, and load-bearing applications. It’s not a feature timber — it’s the reliable workhorse that everything else gets fixed to. Sourced from sustainably managed European forests and stocked in our yard for delivery across Ireland.
Why Whitewood?
Whitewood earns its place by being engineered for the job. With a density of around 470 kg/m³ and structural grading to C24, every length is certified for load-bearing use and supplied with the specifications needed for sign-off on regulated work. It’s lightweight, easy to handle on site, and accepts fixings cleanly. Whitewood isn’t designed to be visible — it’s designed to be reliable, predictable, and ready to install straight from the pack. For framing, joisting, and structural carcassing, it’s the standard for good reason.
Installation guidance
Whitewood is supplied ready for structural use — kiln-dried, strength-graded, and dimensionally stable on site. Use galvanised or stainless-steel structural fixings rated for the load and location. Always check span tables for the relevant section size before specifying. Store flat and dry on site to prevent moisture pick-up before installation — protected on a regular building site, Whitewood holds its dimensional stability without issue.
Finishing & maintenance
Whitewood is structural timber designed to be protected by finishes — plasterboard, cladding, decking, or paint. Any exterior or damp-zone use requires preservative treatment and a protective coating. We can advise on the right preservative and coating system for your specification — speak to our team if you’re not sure what your application needs.
