PuraClad Brushed FR Fire-Rated T&G Composite Cladding
PuraClad Brushed FR is the fire-rated variant of the brushed-finish T&G composite cladding board, formulated to meet stricter fire-performance standards required on certain residential and commercial projects. The visual character is identical to the standard brushed board: a fine, linear surface texture across a tongue-and-groove cladding plank, locking together for a clean continuous face with concealed fixings.
Cedar is a soft, mid-honey timber tone that reads convincingly as wood at first glance. It carries enough warmth to soften a contemporary build and enough character to suit a more traditional setting.
Why specify FR?
Building Regulations and project-specific fire-performance requirements increasingly call for cladding with documented fire ratings, particularly on multi-occupancy buildings, projects above certain heights, and any application within prescribed distances of boundaries. Brushed FR delivers the same brushed PuraClad aesthetic with the documentation needed to satisfy those requirements without forcing a switch to a different visual finish.
Where it works
Apartment buildings, shared-occupancy housing, mixed-use developments, schools, healthcare buildings, and any project where the design team or building-control officer has flagged a need for rated cladding. Also worth specifying as a precaution on smaller projects where future use might change, since substituting non-FR for FR cladding mid-project is rarely feasible.
Installation guidance
Battened substrate with the appropriate ventilation cavity, T&G locking, fixings through the tongue. The PuraClad FR installation manual covers batten spacing, fixings, expansion allowances, and the specific detailing required to maintain the rated assembly. The detailing matters: a correctly specified FR board fitted incorrectly may not retain its rated performance.
Care & maintenance
Periodic wash and an occasional inspection. Cedar holds its colour predictably across the brushed surface. The PuraClad care guide covers approved products.
