MicroShades takes the time-consuming part of timber cladding off your hands — every board arrives factory-finished, ready to install, and ready to perform. It’s a treated softwood range engineered for long exterior service life, supplied with the protective finish already applied so you skip the on-site treatment step entirely. Boards arrive in a consistent factory-applied tone, and the finish is engineered to weather predictably — no patchy results, no rushed application in poor conditions. Sourced from European manufacture and stocked in our yard for delivery across Ireland.

The factory-applied finish is more uniform, more durable, and better-bonded than anything that can be applied on site, and the treatment penetrates deeply into the timber rather than sitting on the surface. With a service life of 20 years and beyond, MicroShades gives you the predictable performance of treated softwood with none of the wait — boards go up looking finished from day one. For projects where install schedule, weather windows, or simply the time of finishing on site is a constraint, MicroShades is the answer.
Installation guidance
Posts are the load-bearing element of any timber structure — set them right and everything else follows. Set posts in concrete or use post anchors above ground level for maximum durability — direct ground contact shortens the life of any softwood significantly. Pre-drill all fixings and use galvanised or stainless-steel hardware rated for the load. Treat any cut ends with preservative for non-Class 1 species — we stock the right products.
Finishing & maintenance
MicroShades looks after itself once installed. We recommend a refresh coat every two or three years to maintain colour depth and protection — we stock the matching maintenance products that pair correctly with the factory finish, so the refreshed surface looks consistent with the original. Ask us if you’re unsure which to pair with your boards. When cuts are needed on site, reseal end-grain with our touch-up sealer to keep the protective treatment continuous.
